Well Hello everybody!
Happy New Year everybody!
Its a new year, so i guess everyone has their own new year resolution for 2012.
Mine is to do well in my job/career i guess. Get fitter?haha and probably find true love.
The new year didnt started off very good for me. Our company is not doing so well, frankly speaking. Not a lot of business. But its like we sent out many proposal but didnt get reply from our client. And our boss is like whipping our ass damn hard. But we're already doing our best to bring in business. And now we have to set our personal goal for 2012, which is $x amount! ($x is quite substantial). So i'm feeling the stress. I actually find this field very interesting and I love doing events. Just that...hmmm maybe because of my boss?My colleagues are awesome people and very nice to be with.

Hmmm anyway, I'm actually considering other careers opportunities. My initial plan was to stay at least one year in my company. But looking at the current situation, I might reconsider my options. So are my colleagues. Sigh. I need to figure out what I wanna do man.

Anyway, I just came back from a 8 Days Korea trip with my family. Korea is really quite fun and different. Their culture is so different and amazing. Its really an eye opener. For example, the ratio of korea cars to import cars is like 9.5 : 0.5. Haha no joke!Everyone drives a Kia or Hyundai. And that women are not allowed to drink(alcohol) in front of men. well, I definitely wish to go back there if i have a chance. I've also got hooked on K-Pop. Haha. Like a sudden K-Pop craze with new K-Pop playlist and songs.

I'm taking part in this year's Chingay Parade. Its an annual parade in Singapore with giant floats and performers. Its my first year taking part in such big scale event and parade. It's definitely another eye opener for me. For someone working in my field, this is like a ginormous event. I mean, the packed lunch alone goes by thousands of packets and the number of event helpers are in hundreds maybe? So much coordination and all. Can't imagine myself doing such a big scale event. Still have much to learn.

2 and a half months into my probation period. I must say I have learnt alot of things through out this period of time. It's really alot of planning and brainstorming behind every successful project before the actual execution of the project. Sometimes i just feel very very exhausted, mentally and physically. Its like squeezing my brain dry, thinking of ideas, so many on-the-spot decisions to make. Everything that could go wrong will go wrong. So many things to do, so many things to remember, so many dates, so many people. Oh my god, this is really killing me. Especially when weekend I have to wake up early for Dragonboat. This is really draining. I treasure EVERY public holiday. I'm definitely gonna take a break after the race at the end of the month. I will go crazy.

I tried to make up a reason for not posting but I think I'm gonna come clean. Truth is, I procrastinated.

I'm actually 1.5 months into my probation. I believe that I'm gonna make it through the probation period because I'm getting along quite well with my colleagues. Ok maybe I should do some introduction of my new colleagues. First of all, there's Charles. He's been working with the company the longest(1 year+). Really fun and nice person, great sense of humor as well. Then we have Jessica(9 months+). Very calm and meticulous person. Newly promoted Assistant Manager as well. After that would be Ron. Don't let his looks fool you because he's actually the father of two. He looks totally like a 20years old punk. Haha.. Next we have Esmond. Don't really like him at first because I find him a little cocky. But after awhile of working together, he's actually a nice guy. Very good with photoshop and designing stuff too! Last but not least we have Michelle. I would think that Michelle doesn't fit so nicely with the rest. Age gap is definitely not the reason because Ron is actually the 2nd oldest after our boss and we get along with Ron pretty well. I guess it's her personality. I find her a little stubborn and outspoken. I think it's quite obvious that the team doesn't really like her. Not sure how long she can take it.

Recently we had a 5 men crew race at Chinese Garden(Jurong Lake). It was my first 5 men crew experience. All races in Singapore uses 10men and 20men crew boats except this special event. I find it quite interesting because the boat is actually very light and very unstable. I personally experience it and find it very challenging to row if the boat is tilting to the left or right side as you keep sliding from your seat. Overall, good experience and we did quite well for this race. This also marks my first medal with PAWV Dragon Boat team.

It was Andy's birthday on the 2nd Oct. Andy is my polytechnic friend and I've known him for about 5 years. We worked at OCBC Bank as interns together with some other friends (Desmond, Vivian, Riki). The original plan was: meet him to drink and chill at a pub on Saturday night and chill till after 12am and wish him birthday and then leave at 1am. However, nothing went according to plan!hahaha
We met up outside Zouk and ended up going partying until 3-4am. We did have fun but almost ended up in a fight with someone else. Seriously the place is too crowded and squeezy. Went home after that and skipped training on Sunday. Andy invited us to his chalet on Sunday evening. And again, plan was go there, have some BBQ and then leave at 10pm. Ended up drinking quite alot and leaving at 1am. Damn, really haven't had that much for a very long time. Thank god I managed to wake up the next day and go to work.

Anyways, finished reading Harry Potter series and loved it. Until next time!

Second week of work!
In case you don't know, I found a job and started working last week(15/Aug). It's a relatively small event company, but the event that they host are quite big scale. I went for interview at the start of the month and got in. I'm working as an Event Executive. The boss and my colleagues are pretty nice and friendly people so i consider myself lucky.

Recently down with flu cough and sore throat. I just recovered like 3 weeks ago and now i'm down again. I suspect there might be a virus spreading around. Oh well, just have to drink more water and take good care of myself.

Another entry another story.HAHA but there's not much story to tell actually.

Ok.So we did good for Singapore Dragon Boat Festival 2011.We did win something for every category we participate in.We got 3rd for Plates Final all 3 categories (20men crew/20mixed crew/10men crew).It was an end to a season and also means a beginning of a new season. New training programme, new captain, new committee and hopefully new rowers!
You must be wondering, Hmmm,what's Plates final?Ok in Dragonboat races, after semi finals, we go to different finals depending on our timing and placing.Top 5 will battle it out in Grand-finals, next best 5 will go to Minor-finals, and lastly we have Plates-finals. I think this is an achievement for the team, although I haven't been in the team long enough, but I can tell that people are putting in effort and doing their best. I've received some feedback about my strokes and techniques. I feel quite discouraged at first but I will do my best to change and improve it.

I went for this 2 short temp job recently, the first one was food distributing, and the second one was event assistance for the 52nd National Inter-Primary School Swimming Championship 2011. It was a 3 day event. The heats was on 21st and 22nd,while the finals was held today. I was basically one of the timekeepers, assisting to take backup timing incase the machines are faulty or didn't register the timing. It was a good learning experience and I've always enjoyed events because they are always so different and you get to learn a lot of new things. The swimmers are really inspiring. They are only like age 10-12, but when I see the seriousness in their face when standing on the starting board, waiting for the horn to sound. As of today, I have new found respect for swimmers. The expressions on their faces are so genuine, be it win or lose.
I've also learnt some rules and regulations about the sport. To name a few, for breaststroke and butterfly stroke, both hands MUST touch the ending board at the same time or you will be disqualified. And here comes the really sad part, false start results in immediate disqualification. Sometimes I think swimmers deserve a second chance. I mean, they've trained so hard for this race, and due to a moment of error/nervousness/lost-focus they get DQ. I've also seen this case where this parent was walking by the side of the pool when the race was going on, and he/she was cheering for their child. The swimmer was also disqualified due to 'illegal pacing' by the parent. I think this is so unfair to the swimmers because they did nothing wrong, and got disqualified because their parent was walking and cheering for them. I totally understand how it feels because I am a sport-person myself.It's so unfair ):

Well, hows job hunting going? I guess I have to say I have been to several interviews so far from sales and event ambassador to financial planner, but I havent really found something I like. Sometimes it gets frustrated when I keep getting ask the same questions from my friends about why am I still jobless.
Anyway I'm doing some freelance-adhoc-part-time job at the moment. Its an event planning company called ESN Asia and they organise activities such as corporate family day to school swimming carnival. So yea, I'm doing some event helper/assistance role.

Race is coming up this weekend at Bedok Reservoir. Its the annual Singapore Dragon Boat Festival(SDBF). As usual, location will be at the Bedok Reservoir, distance is 800meters. No idea how we will perform but wish me luck =)

Just watched Transformers: Dark of The Moon. I kinda liked it. I don't really know how to express it but I feel the last part was a little too chaotic and loud. Story was ok, I went into the cinema without knowing the plot at all and I got shocked when the story took a twist. Its pretty sad that some of the good and bad guys died in the end though, I just didn't expect Megatron's involvement to be so little. And his fight scenes. That being said, I would still give it a 7/10. Hope to see more inter-galactical-robo-brawling in the near future.

Alright where should I begin...
Still looking/waiting for job actually. I'm giving serious consideration to the OBS instructor job because I see my friends(OBS Instructors) who doesnt have much weekend times.
Another of my friend actually told me about this job as an Air Traffic Controller. He's currently studying to become one, so he gave me the HR personnel contact if I want to find out more about the job.
On the other hand, I'm still sending out applications to job search sites.

Sunday morning rowing session was...erm how should I put it, ok I'll help you visualise it.
9am Sunday morning and it was raining cats and dogs. Weather was cooling and nice for sleeping. Its one of those days when you just wanna stay home and sleep and not do anything else. The song 'Lazy Song' by Bruno Mars says it all. But I still got my lazy ass out of bed and head for training. It was drizzling and cold. Not my favourite training. Period.

After training, went to town to meed Yong Wei, Matthew, Yong Sheng, Gucci and Xuan Zhi. Had dinner and watched X-Men: First Class. Initially I thought it was IMAX but I booked the wrong hall. Oh well, it wasnt so bad anyway, the theatre i mean. I think the movie was good. I was quite skeptical at first when I heard the news that they were going to make a prequel. But I think this movie is slightly darker. Oh and I watched Pirates of the Caribbeans: On Stranger Tides too, on Wednesday. Oh man Johnny Depp is so good!And his portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow. Hilarious.

PC Show coming soon and I can't wait to get my hands on XBOX 360+Kinect. Muahahaha

What a weekend. It started off with PA Paddle at Bedok Reservoir on Saturday. It was a relatively small scale event for dragon boat. Not many large teams participated in this race. It was a Canoeing/Dragonboat joint event. Our first heats was suppose to be at 11.30am, but was delayed due to the bad weather. Our event was pushed back to after a few times and was further delayed because of the lunch break.
When it was time, we geared up and did some warm up/visualization/prep. We did a good set, coming in with a timing of 1min15sec. We made it to the semi-finals.

Day 2 started off earlier as our event was at 9.30am. Again, we did the usual, and we did a good set. I did my best so no regrets regardless the result. We came in 4th in our event, hence we did not make it to the finals. It feels good again to be back in the sport. Hundred of hours training, ten of thousands of strokes all come down to this final moment.

Afternoon celebration for Granny's 88th birthday. Lunch at The Cathay restaurant with our family. Did some catching up with my cousins and all.

Been 2months since I'm back but still a bum. Well, not that I've not been looking for a job but just that I havent actually decide what I wanna do. I have been to the recent career fair at Suntec City and applied for a couple of jobs. Ok here are my options:

Job 1: Customer Service Officer
Basically call centre environment
Pros: Good opportunity to enter banks, pay low but allowance quite ok, perm job
Cons: Shift work, uninteresting

Job 2: OBS Instructor
Pros: Outdoor, not as boring, pay quite ok + bonus and benefits
Cons: Need to stay at ubin, 3years bond inclusive of training

Job 3: Air Traffic Controller
Pros: 1 year study+2years bond, interesting field
Cons: Stressful?, test every week

So I'm actually considering my options. I wanna try something interesting and fun before committing to a life long career. Whatever it is, I have to make up my mind soon.

Had a quiet birthday, I remove it from FB to prevent wall flooding. But nevertheless, thanks for the wished and Adge for the card. ♥

Watched World Invasion: Battle LA last week with yong wei. I think the plot is similar to Independence Day, but I think it's quite good despite the negative reviews. I think Aaron Eckhart's portrayal of a specialist is really good. I myself was a specialist a few years ago and i totally understand how it feels to be in between an Officer and a Man. You cannot disobey a direct order from an Officer, but you can't please your Man. It's hard to be a good specialist.

And I've been quite occupied with Dragonboat lately. I've joined a new team. It's really physically draining. Really really really tired especially after like 4-5hours of rowing under the sun. After that I just feels like sleeping for the whole of the next day but I can't because the next day there's another 4 hours of rowing x_x but it's good workout I must admit. Race is around the corner so we'll see how it goes.

Did I mention I have been reading quite alot lately? There's this particular author who's really good in my opinion. His name's Matthew Reilly. He writes fast pace stories with non stop action. Temple, Contest, Ice Station, Seven Ancient Wonders just to name afew of his books. Do check it out if you have the chance.

Back in Singapore for more than a month now. Back to the routine life of being jobless and unemployed.
Job hunting really isn't easy, most of the time company website doesnt reply, recruitment firm takes forever..
First priority is to get a job.
Been to XXX dragonboat boat club for a few trainings and I can really tell the difference between a school team and a club team.
The intensity, the discipline, the commitment level, the attitude and so on. The difference is so huge. Now I am caught in a crossroad whether to join or not. I'm not sure if I can accept the change.

I had a friend, X. He asked me out to a 'talk' without giving me much information. I thought it was an christian conversion talk initially. Soon after I realise it was not, but my relief was short-lived. It was like a MLM(multi-level marketing), which I hate the most. It's when you have to choose between getting rich, or losing friends. That simple. Worst thing is that I had to pay to attend that talk. WTH?

Queensland was hit by the worst flood since 1974. Houses, roads, crops, vegetations fully submerged. Engulfed by water. Low lying areas were hit badly. My area was kinda lucky since we're on higher ground. Many places were not as lucky, retirement plans, livelihood washed away. Sad thing really.

Anyway, I don't know how long it will be until I'll be back here again, my second home. Hope I don't have to wait long.
I'll be back in time for Chinese New Year. Turning 24 this year, ain't young anymore.

Another semester passed just like that. More friendship were forged from all over the globe. Its been a good semester no doubt, love the family, love the peeps, love the house. We enjoyed Byron Bay, Whitsundays ans Sydney together, treasuring every last minutes of our time together. Byron and Sydney with Adge, Greg and Suchay. Met up with Jo and her friend, Sue in Syd. Went on a sailing trip with almost everyone and martin. It was a great trip, could be better for the weather.

But theres a saying, 天下无不散之筵席, all good things come to an end. This will probably be my last post in this year. 2010 was a good year, hope 2011 is just as good, maybe even better. Wish everyone the best for their studies. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2011!

Yes its second semester already

Did ok for my first semester but this semester seems really hard. I have a bad feeling about it. Anyway, my new housemates are really nice people.

There's Pal from Norway which i knew since the last semester. And there's Mayra(Peru) who used to live downstairs from last semester. Then Daniel(Germany) from last semester. Nico and Nick(Germans), Suchay aka Sam from india but lives in KL, the canadian girls Adrienne aka Adge and Joanne aka Jo.

It's significantly different, less party to begin with. And more activities. We used to party almost every weekend. But this semester its reduced by at least half. But we have more activities like dance classes and outing trips.

Different is always good. School is really stressful.Probably going travelling with some of the guys after the semester.Ok till next time

damn nice.really.i dont watch romance of the three kingdom and i know nothing about it
